Have you ever been faced with a huge decision that could alter your life forever?
Well, this post is based on a decision that I have to make. I’ve come to a point in my life where I’ve realized that I am capable of more that what I’m presently doing. I’ve come to that infamous “crossroads” where I have to decide what path to take that could change my life forever.
Without going into too much detail, my current job is acceptable, for some. It pays the bills and is somewhat creative. But have you ever felt like you can do more? That you’re not completely content and have that feeling in your gut that theres something out there that would be better suited for you?
How many times have you heard people say they hate their job but its just something you have to live with. Who says that you have to be like everyone else. Who says you can’t wake up and actually want to go to work? Maybe you’re in this safe world right now, but where is the fun in that? Put yourself out there. Maybe the saying is true “Bigger the risk, bigger the reward.” It could be that time in your life where you have to please yourself and stop pleasing those around you. If you wait for everyone to be supportive and take your side, you could be waiting forever.
No matter what decision you are facing today, it is important to follow your heart. If you have a dream that just won’t go away, your heart is reminding you that you need to do something about it. Your heart is not going to let you forget about that little dream unless you bring it to pass.
Here are a few steps to help you make your decision:
1. Make a list
Get a piece of paper and write down all the pros and cons
2. Ask for others opinions
Go to the people in your life that you can trust to give you honest opinions
3. Ask yourself:
If I don’t take the plunge, will I regret this in 5, 10, 20 years from now?
4. Pray
If you’re religious, ask God for the right answers. The answers may not come to you in such a direct way, so look for the signs
The crossroad is ahead of you, which direction do you choose?
My advice? Don’t look back.

Being confident in your decision is also nice.
Yes, confidence is very important.

Sometimes a leap isn’t required at all. Volunteering is a great way to add something special to your life without leaving the security of your job. Times are tough right now. Don’t go anywhere until you have something lined up or you are in field that allows you to get a job tomorrow.
Hey Teddi,
Yes, volunteering is another great way to add more fulfillment to your life. There’s also ways to work on something else in your free time and on the weekends.

I know that burning desire but maybe a plunge is not the right approach.
Sometimes it’s best to see if you can get alternatives up and running and even sustained before taking the leap. Better safe than sorry!
Use a COIN FLIP to check your decision: assign heads or tails to your decision, then flip the coin and pay close attention to your mental, emotional, physical, and any other reactions to the result of the flip. Did you mentally say, “Oh, no!”? Did you feel a flash of fear? Did your stomach tighten? If so, that might be valuable information about how you really perceive what you plan to do. You can always coin flip a different decision to see how it compares.
That’s a pretty interesting idea Tress.
